One day at a time
Whoever thought of that phrase and lived it must have gone through a lot for how do you actually take one day at a time? Does that mean to wake up every morning erasing the past and foregoing the future? To wake up and believe that today will be the last day in your life? To go to bed at night thinking if you did everything you needed to do and if you’ve shown love to everyone important to you? How do one live one day at a time? Is it fear or understanding of the future that drives a person to live that way? Is it by choice or by chance?
To live the rest of the day as if there is no tomorrow?
To lie in bed afraid to fall asleep for fear that tomorrow might come too soon and you won’t be part of the “world” anymore?
To show your spouse all the love you have for him even at the risk of smothering him for tomorrow one of you might not be around?
